A useful Kaiju Alpha tier list must say what it ranks. Update 51 added Godzilla Ultima, so lists made before that release cannot be complete. The developers do not publish an official ranking, and community lists reflect different patches, modes, skill levels, and map assumptions.
Update 51 ranking status
Older community pages can identify strong candidates and common opinions, but copying their letters into an Update 51 table would imply evidence that does not exist. Use the framework below to build a ranking for the fights you actually play.
Define the tier question
Choose one context before assigning letters:
- One-on-one fight in open terrain.
- One-on-one fight in dense city terrain.
- Public-server survival with third-party interruptions.
- Beginner accessibility with little matchup knowledge.
- Experienced play with optimized resource timing.
- Progression efficiency, if the activity actually rewards combat.
A kaiju can be high tier in one context and ordinary in another. Public-server survival values escapes and awareness more than a clean duel does.
Score the properties that decide fights
Use a simple 1–5 observation score only after completing the same tests for each candidate. The number summarizes your evidence; it is not an official stat.
Provisional buckets, not fixed winners
Established candidate
A kaiju with repeated current-build results across several matchups. Requires documented reasons, not popularity alone.
Matchup specialist
Strong against particular ranges, body sizes, or terrain, but has clear losing conditions elsewhere.
Accessible learner
A clear game plan and forgiving recovery help beginners, even if experienced opponents expose limits.
Unranked
New, changed, difficult to access, or missing enough current matches. Godzilla Ultima belongs here at the start of Update 51.
How to test Godzilla Ultima
Ultima’s official notes make meter state essential. Test Attack 1 and 3 below and above an Attack bar of 100. Record how often you can reach and preserve that state in a real match. Test Attack 5’s charging mitigation as a decision: does the 10% reduction make the charge safe, or does the opponent still gain a better punish? Fill Utility and observe whether the mist storm changes visibility, positioning, or pressure in reproducible ways.
Do not assign a top tier because the official description contains multiple special effects. Power depends on access, frequency, recovery, counterplay, and matchup value.
Matchup sample size
One win proves little. Aim for multiple fights against the same opponent kaiju on at least two terrain types. Record whether both players understood their kits. Separate defeats caused by third-party attacks, lag, or a large level difference.
If an unlock is rare, public results may overrepresent highly experienced owners. That can make the kaiju look stronger than the kit alone. Conversely, a new release can look weak while players are still learning its resource loop.
Reading community tier lists
Check the publication date, visible update, roster completeness, and ranking criteria. A list that predates Update 51 can still explain an older matchup, but it cannot rank Godzilla Ultima. A list with no reasons is harder to update than one that says “strong range, unsafe recovery, map-dependent.”
Treat exact damage or cooldown numbers as separate claims. Verify them in game rather than assuming the tier author measured them.
Your reusable tier note
Write the context, kaiju, opponent, terrain, neutral result, reliable punish, escape option, resource peak, and counterplay. Then assign a provisional bucket. Update the reason before changing the letter. This keeps the ranking useful after a patch.
What remains unverified
There is no official Update 51 tier order. Complete current roster availability, exact balance values, final Ultima matchup spread, and high-level tournament-style results were not publicly established at the check date. The kaiju list shows status-aware roster names; the combat guide provides the testing routine.
